I used to find such a release in writing, pouring out my confused thoughts and ponderings for both of you to read. I’ve told myself over and over “self, it might help if you went back to that…” but alas, i never do. So i make no promises. No resolutions to return to this wonderful world of being just another unimportant page on the internet, but the act of writing this paragraph is drawing me back to it.

So many things have happened. Its’ been 9 months….. well i only have one more semester of school left. Then it’s off to playing that wonderful game of “looking” for a job (keeping mom happy) while really trying to figure out how to make music work. Jesus has been good to me this year, and unfortunately i’ve slipped away and come back like usual. It’s interesting that it takes Christmas Day itself to coerce me into writing again. A forced day of no work, friends, or ‘real’ life is what it took for me to see what kept me sane for so long.

Enough of the serious stuff. How about an extremely-succinct-bulleted-list to catch you up on what i’ve been doing. Everyone enjoy lists, right?

• I have a band. Met these guys this past summer and fall, and am enjoying their unending love for God and ever-patient love for me.
• We’re recording at the moment, so that’s always fun to come home to.
• I moved. Still in Lubbock, of course. Bigger house
• Still leading worship at Live Oak. As always, it’s a blast. I love seeing students sing to their Savior, and watch them lead their peers in worship. Beautiful.
• Fairly sick of college…. I’ve grown out of like and into disgust with the “let’s make the best grades possible so we can get the best job possible so we can buy the biggest house possible and the hottest wife possible so we can live as quickly as possible and die.” mindset. But alas, graduation is in May, and I hope and pray i never have to use my degree!, Jesus willing.
• Going snowboarding in 6 days with the guys. 4 days of man-time, no work, school, girls, etc.

My goal for this is to write a post tomorrow. Just one. One day at a time, as ol’ Willie would say. We’ll see how long I disappear this time.

This weekend i’ve been digesting this scripture, the whole chapter actually. It’s been eating at me. You know the feeling you get after seeing a great action-hero movie where you want to be like the hero and you leave the movie with a bitter-sweet feeling of  “that was cool” mixed with “if only i were capable of that?” That’s how i feel after being read by this passage, much like Isaiah, taken to a place and shown things that i am completely unworthy of, and then i leave the end of verse 9 with that action-hero feeling.

All of this came to fruition this morning. As a worship leader, i’ve always struggled with the dichotomy that we have this supermassive God who has given everything that we might believe, and yet our corporate worship response resembles the vitality that senior citizens have shopping for antiques. So I took things out of the box this morning, slightly stretching everyone’s comfort zone, and asked them (6th-8th grade students) to scream out parts of the songs we sang, and then i was surprised, because they did it, and it was loud. And yes, awkward at first, turning the chorus of You Alone into shouting. But as it always happens, the Spirit was there, and I think after the awkward faces of “we can do this in church?” went away, perhaps their view of what worship can look like was broadened a little.

where. where am i? this particular day, i find myself enjoying the weather and wanting to be alone, or perhaps with.

but in the bigger picture, where am i? what am i doing? with what purpose and authority do i do what i do?

i suppose i am just asking those questions. that’s where i am.

But nonetheless, class is optional today, and I am not going.

sleep in until at least 11am.
go work out a little. shower.
upload the beta of the new website.
play/write some music. 
make something marvelous for dinner.
perhaps jam a little with whoever. interested?

who knows. it is saturday.

christmas was great. i went home and didn’t leave the house all week. oh yeah, and i bought a Taylor 114ce. have been drooling over this for a couple of years. and now it’s mine!! 

in other news, i’m feeling impulsive. road trip?
